About EDIS

How was EDIS developed?

EDIS was developed as a collaboration between Illuminaries and Consilient–Change.

Illuminaries is a bespoke database design company with experience in developing child protection databases for the NHS. This led to a significant piece of work on behalf of UNICEF to design and develop a multi-agency child protection database for the Republic of Maldives, which could be used jointly by the Health, Social Care, Police and Justice services. This system was implemented in 2010.

Consilient–Change specialises in inter-professional and inter-agency change management with a significant experience in multi-agency child protection work including child sexual exploitation.

Since 2010, Illuminaries and Consilient–Change have worked together to assess the UK potential for a database system offering an integrated approach to collaborative, multi-agency working in the area of Child Sexual Exploitation and Safeguarding. EDIS is the product of 18 months development with many key features having been defined in conjunction with Safe and Sound Derby and the Sheffield multi-agency team.
